One way in which Norwegians achieve their hallmark style is with the surprisingly common use of wall paper. It seems that many Americans hesitate to use wall paper, perhaps believing it to be a dated way to decorate a space. In fact, many wall paper companies are now referring to their products as "wall coverings" to steer clear from its unfashionable reputation among Americans. We can certainly sympathise with anyone who has ever had to remove wall paper from their own walls. Nevertheless, our favorite Norwegian blog demonstrates that wallpaper can transform a room by adding a pop of color, great pattern, or subtle textured look to a wall.

While taking a tour on the Parade of Homes in Minneapolis this past year, we discovered one line of wall paper called Arte that stood out to us as beautiful, clean and modern. Take a look at how wall paper adds so much to these cute nurseries.

Those of you who grew up in the 70s and 80s will surely feel nostalgic for some of these toys. Did you play with any of these when you were little?

After the visit to the flea market, a particular toy store came to mind...The Essence of Nonsense was a fabulous, old-fashioned toy store that was in a quaint little St. Paul neighborhood on St. Claire Avenue. The shop has since closed, but it specialized in classic toys like teddy bears, marbles, books and wooden blocks. Not a single toy required batteries. The Essence of the Nonsense has since been replaced by the Wine Thief and Ale Jail (not too shabby!), but we will always have a special place in our hearts for that shop and these toys.
